Saudi Health Minister praises DHCC facilities

The Health Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Dr. Hamad Bin Abdullah Al Mana'a, expressed keen interest and praised the facilities and services planned by Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), during an extensive tour of the world's first integrated healthcare free zone.

Dr. Hamad was accompanied by the UAE Minister of Health, H.E. Hamid Al Qutami. Ahmad Sharaf, Senior Vice President of Tatweer for Energy and Healthcare and Dr. Muhadditha Yahya Al-Hashimi, DHCC Deputy Chief Executive Officer provided the dignitaries with a tour of the DHCC premises.

Highlighting the fact that several major Saudi Arabian healthcare groups have partnered with Dubai Healthcare City to set up leading-edge facilities and medical delivery systems, Sharaf explained the core concept of DHCC.

'We aim to provide premium wellness and healthcare services for people of the entire region, who currently have to travel overseas to seek specialist treatment.'

Sharaf added the first phase of the regional medical hub is fully sold out and investors are making rapid headway on their individual projects.

'While DHCC will be completed by 2010, over 16,000 patients have already sought treatment at the clinics currently operating in DHCC,' Sharaf said.

Dr. Muhadditha said the DHCC will also be a regional hub for medical education, especially for continuing and post-graduate studies and specialisation, and for cutting-edge medical research.

Dubai Healthcare City has aligned itself with world-class institutions such as the Harvard Medical International to create an unparalleled academic resource centre offering clinical and research fellowships, as well as speciality observerships to selected health care professionals in the Gulf region.

The Saudi Health Minister visited the Dubai Healthcare City as part of his tour of various medical and healthcare facilities in the UAE.
