ME airlines $1bn profit

Middle East airlines will post a profit of nearly $1bn for 2006 as regional demand for air travel surges, according to IATA forecasts quoted by Reuters. But the global aviation industry is expected to lose $1.7bn, due to high fuel costs. Passenger growth on Middle East airlines is expected to be 15%, exceeded only by the domestic Chinese market at 19%.
