Al Tayer headed an RTA delegation to International Trade Fair for Transport Technology in Berlin

A Delegation from the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) headed by HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Authority, departed to Germany to attend the inauguration of the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology and conference (Inno Trans 2006) in Berlin with the participation of more than 1300 companies specialised in the trains manufacture and public transport.

The exhibition is held on an area of 82,000 square meters and is expected to be attended by more than 50,000 visitors.

Al Tayer accompanied by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Chief Executive Officer of Public Transport Agency, Engineer Abdul Majeed Al Khajah, Chief Executive Officer of Rail Agency and number of senior officials.

HE Mattar Al Tayer said that the fair (Inno Trans) acquires special importance of being a one-roof gathering to meet the specialists in transportation and trains to introduce state-of-the-art technology in the fields of infrastructure of the rail network and tunnels, the interior designs of the trains and welfare systems, in addition to the public transport buses.

"A conference on the international standards for railway structure and industry, financing methods and the means of mass transportation, and safety and security measures in metro networks and the quality in presenting the services to passengers will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition," he added.

He noted: "We aims through this visit to this exhibition, which held once every two years, is to see the latest technology in the railway industry, in terms of design, wagon wheels, the controlled gates systems, the seats design, lighting and other luxury and entertainment methods, pointing out that this exhibition is a good opportunity to meet with companies that manufacture trains and take advantage of the countries' experiences and experiments that have preceded us in metro networks, and the identification of the methods used to ensure the safety of metro networks, in addition to the Authority continues connection with the international experience in the rail transport, in particular, and the transport in general.

Al Tayer said that the Authority is serving a broad sector of society and is keen to provide its services in accordance with the highest international standards suitable with the development witnessed in Dubai in various fields.

The delegation will visit the Berlin Rail Agency and will meet Mr. Thomas Necker Executive Director of the Agency, to be aware on the Berlin Metro experiment, the operation center for metro and they also will visit the control center of electronic signs, and also visit the Metro tunnel Line U 55, which is currently under construction.
