The campaign was launched with the participation of more than 500 Ministry of Education and University students, public and private institutions and international organizations.
Mr. Muhannad Al Turk, Director General of Coca-Cola in Jordan, voiced his happiness with such sponsorship and said, 'Coca-Cola's participation in such activities emerges from its commitment to protecting the environment and supporting the local community, in addition to providing any necessary support to achieve the desired goal of the campaign's motto, which is keeping the Jordanian environment clean.'
He went on to add that: 'Coca-Cola seeks to continue providing full support in the future for such events and activities, which preserve the environment from pollution and provide optimal solutions for obstacles encountered by the environment.'
Mrs. Salwa Al Khairi, Vice President of the Jordanian Environment Association, stated in her speech the importance of the campaign's goals in terms of enhancing the principle of partnership between non-governmental associations and the private sector, promoting people towards abolishing the act of littering, and keeping the Jordanian environment clean.
Al Khairi stressed the importance of the environment's role in protecting forests which constitute only 1% of Jordan's area. She further noted that there are landmasses in Jordan where investments and projects could be established.
From her part, the campaign's coordinator Mrs. Amna Eid said ' The campaign enjoys an important characteristic which is the spirit of cooperation in terms of teamwork which aims at changing the conducts and trends of the Jordanian society in dealing with the environment and thus making it cleaner'. This campaign, the first of its kind in Jordan, is launched from two different places simultaneously.'
Moreover, Coca-Cola supports several educational and health projects in many countries including the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in order to provide necessary support for the society's different sectors.
It is worth noting that 'Clean up the World' is the Jordanian Environment Association's fourteenth campaign. The Association, with the cooperation of Coca-Cola, has previously sponsored many environmental activities and events. The Association is also the Kingdom's representative in the International Organization for Cleaning the Planet in Sydney, Australia.
