UAE web professionals urged to send entries for H.H. Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum web award as deadline nears

The contest will select one of the entries in the 'Best Website in the UAE' category to receive the prize, which is the highest honour at the UAE Web Awards. Winners and two runners-up will also be selected in 23 other award categories, receiving golden, silver and bronze trophies respectively. Candidates can register for the awards simply by logging on to www.uaewebawards.org.

Jawad Al Redha, Co-Chairman, Middle East, Business Software Alliance said:

"The encouraging response the first edition of the web awards evoked among UAE web professionals has pushed us to widen their scope this year. This initiative furthers BSA's commitment to build a healthy environment for the growth of the regional IT industry and emphasise on the importance of safeguarding Intellectual Property Rights."

The pioneering award is organised by BSA jointly with the Assembly of Professionals and Technicians in Lebanon (APTL) with the aim of honouring web professionals and safeguarding their Intellectual Property Rights. The prize will be presented in Dubai on November 25, 2006.

Pierre Moukarzel, President of the Pan Arab Web Awards Committee said: "In today's globalised world, a well-designed, user-friendly and informative website serves as the most effective tool for doing business, research and reaching out to the larger world. The awards honour the web professional and the creativity that goes into putting together an attractive website."

Entries will be graded by a jury comprising experts in web designing and will be judged according to special criteria that meet specific high-level standards of web design. Winners of the H.H. Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Prize, launched last year, will qualify to represent the UAE at the prestigious Pan Arab Web Awards 2007 competition. Winners will be announced at an official ceremony to be announced shortly.

The 23 other categories in which awards will also be presented are Best Bank website, Best Commercial and Financial website, Best e-commerce website, Best Educational website, Best Fashion website, Best Government website, Best Public Organisation and Municipalities website, Best Hospital or Health Organisation website, Best Industrial website, Best International Organisation website, Best Consulate website, Best Media and Advertising website, Best Non-Governmental website, Best Individual website, Best Sports website, Best Tourist Website, Best Air, Land and Sea Transportation website, Best Airline website, Best Car Sale and Rental website, Best Entertainment website and the Best Real Estate website.
