In his new capacity, Mr. Rothel will be responsible for implementing the BFH strategy of creating in Bahrain a home for technologically astute and sophisticated international as well as regional financial institutions and service providers. BFH aims at contributing positively to the enhancement of Bahrain's reputation as the financial capital of the Middle East.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Jasmi, Managing Director, BFH said,
"The appointment of Mr. Stephen Rothel comes at a time when BFH is poised for significant growth. Over 85 per cent of the construction work on Phase I - the Financial Centre - of the project is now complete and on time and this key component of BFH will open for occupancy by early next year. Additionally, development work on the leisure and residential components, and other phases within BFH are progressing at a rapid pace. We are very confident that Stephen will contribute significantly to this process through his vast experience and expertise in the sector."
Mr. Rothel completed nine years as a State Development Manager at Grocon, Australia's largest private development and construction company. He was responsible for the entire value cycle from identifying and securing new major property developments to delivering them to their successful conclusions. He has also been associated with some of Australia's key landmark projects including Queen Victoria - a mixed-use development, and Eureka Tower - the world's tallest residential building.
An Associate of the Australian Institute of Valuers & Land Economists (A.V.L.E.) and an Associate of Real Estate Institute of Victoria (A.R.E.I.V), Mr. Rothel is also a member of the Property Council of Australia (Committee for Development Review).
