Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA), which opened almost 20 years ago, has seen a recent 20% increase in passenger numbers in the first half of 2006, resulting in a 25% rise in revenues compared to 2005 figures, across Middle East and subcontinent routes.

As one of the key players in promoting the emirate of Sharjah, SATA also offers great value holiday packages to different parts of the world including Middle East, Asia and Europe. Packages offered meet all budget groups with a wide variety of exceptional services from airlines and hotels.

Mr. Hossam Tallat, General Manager of SATA, said, "SATA is embarking on regional annual road show to seven GCC cities to promote the summer season specials. At an international level, SATA attends annual travel exhibitions arranged in Germany, Turkey, Russia and China to continue raising the profile of Sharjah in the global arena."

"To meet the demand, SATA is due to open its 5th outlet in Sharjah in order to extend its services to the entire emirate as well as surrounding areas" he added.

New sections in SATA include special services for Haj and Umrah passengers, as well as offer customized packages to several other segments of passengers either using Air Arabia, the Middle East's first low cost carrier, or other airlines flying out of Sharjah.

Mr. Hossam Tallat believes that Air Arabia has created a new market for holidays especially for consumers who prefer to have a low-fares package. This is popular with travellers who like to embark on short breaks, indulge in weekend getaways and on short official holidays during the year. Side by side, the expansion of Air Arabia network has also created new destinations to use as holiday packages like Istanbul and Sri Lanka.
