Mobiles penetrate Arabia

Mobile penetration in Arab countries increased to 28% in 2005, up from 17% in 2004, according to Madar Research figures quoted by TradeArabia. Bahrain and the UAE saw the highest rates, with 107% and 96% respectively. Mobile phone subscriptions also overtook fixed line subscriptions in 2005, with the ratio of mobiles-to-fixed-lines nearly ten-fold in some countries.
