- PRESS RELEASE
Ninety new Medical and 50 Nursing students began Orientation Week at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Medical University of Bahrain (MUB) yesterday, looking forward to a challenging and fruitful year ahead.
"The first day of term is a new and exciting beginning for both faculty and students. The academic staff has only one priority and that is to provide the best tuition possible for our students."
"The incoming students have been carefully selected for their programmes and everybody entering the University has potential to become a successful doctor or nurse, but they must wish it and be prepared to work hard."
The University aims to provide the very best education through the application of a wide range of educational methodologies.
Delivery of the curriculum depends heavily on the use of information technology and all students are given a personal laptop on Orientation Day.
The students were able to become thoroughly familiar with the school's campus and facilities. They met with Academic Committee Chairman Dr. Brendan Kavanagh, School of Nursing Director Batool Al Mohandis, Medical Faculty Administrator Jo Hinrichsen and as well as other faculty members and fellow students.
As a constituent university of the renowned Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, the MUB delivers courses to the highest international standards, with qualifications that will be recognised worldwide.
The Medical University of Bahrain is an international centre serving primarily the GCC countries but open to applicants outside the region. In addition to the Medical and Nursing schools, others in the fields of pharmacy, physiotherapy and dentistry will be added later.
Currently operating in Bahrain's Seef District, it will move next year to a new BD10 million facility immediately adjacent to the planned new King Hamad General Hospital at Muharraq, which will be the University's main teaching hospital.
The new campus will be a state of the art facility, purpose built for delivering the University's programmes, with a fully integrated IT system, wireless Internet access in all areas to allow for the maximum use of technology and e-learning in the delivery of the education programs. In addition, the University will continue to have access to the Ministry of Health's hospitals and health centres.
