"The addition of the Zabeel Hall to the Dubai International Exhibition Centre has added 15,000 square metres of floorspace to the show, and this has enabled us to welcome many more regional and international exhibitors to Index this year."
The Zabeel Hall will feature a diverse range of products - from furniture to lighting, carpets to glass and artwork to pottery and ceramics. Among the many countries represented are Germany, Taiwan, India, The Netherlands, USA, Vietnam, Italy, Thailand, Lebanon, Egypt, Cyprus, Brazil and Morocco, and there are many new exhibitors and countries participating this year.
With a strong global reputation based on its strength in the textiles, furniture, wallcoverings and residential lighting sectors, Index is internationally acknowledged as one of the world's leading interior events - this year, the show also features many expanded product areas, one of which is flooring.
"Index 2006 is the number one choice for the region's key interior designers, architects, consultants and specifiers," added Willis. "It has no equal as a one-stop source of total interiors inspiration, and we have further enhanced the show to ensure that it offers an even stronger focus on the specific product areas that are of great interest to our regional visitors."
In 2005, Index was once again the largest exhibition ever staged at Dubai's International Exhibition Centre, covering 30,495 square metres, occupying eight exhibition halls, the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Sheikh Maktoum Hall and The Pavilion, and strengthened its position as the most prestigious and largest exhibition in the Middle East by far.
"The international reputation of the show was reinforced by the high quality and comprehensive profile of the products showcased at Index, which is comparable to any of the major international interiors exhibitions that take place in Europe and the US," said Bernard Walsh, Managing Director dmg world media Dubai Ltd. "Last year we hosted exhibitors from 56 countries, with 1,251 stands representing 1,443 companies, including 30 national and regional groups, and welcomed an all-time record 31,140 visitors - this year we will continue to build on the success of Index, and anticipate that the show will once again break all previous records."
