Dubai International Backgammon Tournament to be held from October 4th

Wesal Exhibitions Organizing announced at a Press Conference today that an International Backgammon Tournament will be held for the first time in Dubai under the auspices of the Dubai Press Club.
Khalifa Saif Al Maqoodi, Chairman, Wesal Exhibitions Organizing said, "This is the first time that the International Backgammon Tournament is being organized in Dubai in collaboration with the Dubai Press Club. The backgammon game is considered to be one of oldest board games. Throughout history the game has been associated with leaders and aristocracy."
He added, "To allow media members to participate in the backgammon tournament, a special pre-qualifying match will be held for a week starting 4th October. Qualified players will go on to join the tournament from 11th till 14th October. The final winner will receive a grand prize at a special ceremony."
The tournament is being supported by a number of sponsors. The representatives of the sponsors were present at the press conference which included the main sponsors Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons represented by Mohammed Abdul Majeed Siddiqi, Crystal Arc represented by Gilber Ghanem, Corum by Hend Siddiqi and Ogaret Restaurant by Jan Issa.
The media sponsors include Al Arabian Travel.TV which was represented by Mustafa Al Haraki, Fujairah FM, Dubai Times and Al Wesal Classifieds.
