QIIB considers US branches

The Qatar International Islamic Bank is considering the possibility of opening branches in the US after the US Federal Reserve approached the bank with a proposal to set up operations in the country, reported The Peninsula citing an Arabic daily. The QIIB's transactions share in the Qatari market amounts to around 8% and totals $1.9bn; the bank also has a 50% share in the UK's British Islamic Bank.
