This study was proposed by the Corporation at the beginning of the present year to support the operational economies and to increase revenues from operations.

The Assistant Managing Director for Financial & Administrative Affairs, Mr. Mohammad Al-Hilal said in a press statement that the purpose of this study was to lay down the foundations of the project for upgrading the Corporation's fleet using the various aircraft brands available from the manufacturers. This study also contains analyses on the operational plans and schedules, also setting their criteria for improving the operational revenues, how to raise their operational efficiency and a review on the current lines of network to improve the Corporation's capability in competing with the other airlines in the region, and to enhance the level of service rendered to clients.

Mr. Hilal added that the second plan involves a preparatory study for the purpose of upgrading the fleet, which aims at laying down a schedule plan backed by the economies of operations for the aircraft brands available by the manufacturers, which must be compatible with the future lines and operations network for the next fifteen years, and taking into consideration the aim of reducing the current operational cost, increasing the revenues and improving the level of services offered to passengers onboard the aircraft for long-distance journeys.

Mr. Hilal added that the study would offer both an analysis as well as a comparison between the Corporation's current fleet on one hand and the fleet recommended by the aircraft manufacturers on the other hand, while taking into consideration the existing and futuristic international standards in the industry.

M. Hilal also said that the Corporation was a governmental entity and was subject to routine procedures with the higher authorities, and this had caused delay in executing the vital plans and implementing the Corporation's strategic plan toward achieving profitability.
