Nakheel hands over first building at International City

Nakheel, the UAE's leading property developer, has handed over the first of 387 buildings at International City.

This begins the process of handing over 75% of residential buildings by the last quarter of 2006, with the following 25% handed over in 2007.

The building was handed over to owner Abraj Property Developers, at a ceremony attended by Nakheel's CEO Chris O'Donnell, International City's GM Eng. Rashid Al Helli, and Abraj Property Developers' Managing Director Saad El Zein.

The four storey (G+3) mixed-use building, developed by main contractor Al Shafar Transport & Contracting Co. LLC, is based in one of the China Clusters in International City's residential district. The building consists of 60 residential units and 18 retail shops.

Eng. Rashid Al Helli, General Manager International City, said at the occasion, "Today's successful handover is a culmination of all the efforts and years of planning that went into developing this project. Today presents a key milestone for International City and Nakheel; the project is progressing as per schedule and we are looking to follow today up with a systematic handover for all completed buildings."

Saad El Zein, Managing Director of Abraj Property Developers, said, "It gives us great satisfaction to be the very first recipients of a building in Nakheel's International City, and we commend the Nakheel team on their ongoing efforts to make this the transition smooth and hassle free.

'We will immediately start turning over residential apartments to our unit buyers, who are looking forward to their final handover date. We believe that International City has maintained Nakheel's ethos of quality standards and professionalism and are confident they will continue in the same manner with the upcoming handovers."

International City is Nakheel's 800-hectare residential, commercial and tourism project located in the Al Warsan area of Dubai, and situated just 12 kilometers from Dubai International Airport.
