The 22nd event in the series is being held from 4-7 December 2006 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and Emirates Palace, and will be hosted by ADNOC - the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company - and their group of companies.

In addition to the traditional elements of Gastech, this year's event will see a number of firsts including the 2006 Excellence in Energy Awards (better known as the 'Oil Oscars'), the Gastech IT Zone, Gastech and LNG Hosted Buyers Programme, GasTV Live, the 1st Gastech Open Golf Tournament, and Meet at the Oasis - an initiative designed to ensure that attendees can arrange onsite meetings in an effective way.

His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and ADNEC said, "The gas business in Abu Dhabi will almost double in the next five years - a trend that is set to continue for many years to come. I am very pleased that this year's Gastech will be in Abu Dhabi - right at the heart of the World's gas industry."

Simon Horgan, ADNEC Chief Executive said: "I am delighted that dmg world media have chosen to stage Gastec 2006 in Abu Dhabi. The Emirate stands on the brink of an economic boom and high profile international exhibitions such as Gastech have a huge role to play in promoting the region and the opportunities that it provides to the wider world."

Whilst Gastech 2006 will be held in ADNEC's existing exhibition and conference facilities, ADNEC is well under way with construction of a much larger exhibition complex. When complete, it will include 57,000 square metres of gross exhibition floor space, a massive 21,000 square metres visitor concourse and 7,500 square metres of multi-purpose halls. The new centre will also feature dedicated conference facilities for 1,200 people, banqueting areas and more than 30 high-specification meeting rooms.
