Dubai tourism industry gets insights into Dubailand

As a part of its continuous efforts in placing Dubai firmly on top of the world tourism map and to create awareness about the iconic tourism and infrastructure projects underway in the emirate by various organisations, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) conducted a presentation on Dubailand recently.

Held under the DTCM patronage at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Auditorium, the presentation was welcomed by one and all with Mr. Mohammed Al Habbai, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Dubailand, providing details about 24 mega projects that have been either handed over and running or planned to become operational.

More than 200 hotel and travel industry professionals attended the event and benefited from the knowledge about the latest developments in Dubai's booming tourism industry.

The Dubailand projects include world-class hotels, Golf courses, resorts, sports facilities, Polo clubs, Zoo, Children's Fun City Centers.

One of the biggest construction projects in the world, the Dubailand is a mixed-use theme park. Dubailand will have 12 entertainment theme parks, including one of the largest water parks in the world. The theme parks will also include the 'The Restless Planet, a dinosaur theme park being developed in cooperation with the Natural History Museum in the UK; a complete Sports City featuring large state-of-the-art stadiums; the Great Dubai Wheel; the Islamic Culture and Science World; the Mall of Arabia, set to become one of the largest shopping centres in the world.

To be built on two billion square feet of land, the theme park consists of 45 separate projects and 200 sub-projects, from a space exploration exhibition to full-size dinosaur enclosure. Surrounded by desert, the park will have an artificial rain forest under an enormous glass dome and a ski slope with snow created by machine. The destination will be twice the size of Disneyland.
