The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the activities of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), which gave a complete update on its activities, including the ICT Fund and the interconnection negotiations between both operators Etisalat and du, and the federal royalty program for Etisalat and du.

Commenting on this occasion, H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Government Sector Development, Chairman of the Supreme Committee said, "Some decisions were discussed regarding licensing terrestrial and satellite broadcasting."

When asked about the recent Etisalat violation to the telecom law and the TRA's regulations, Al Mansoori commented by saying: "We have reviewed the TRA's investigation about this incident and we will instruct the TRA regarding this matter by next Monday."

TRA has recently announced that Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) violated the law by not obtaining approval from TRA to offer a promotional offer, which is against the TRA's regulations.
