Road and Transport Authority (RTA) selects future Employees from National Institute for Vocational Education (NIVE)

In conformity with the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai, to support national cadres by further developing their skills and qualifications through direct linkage between education programs and market requirements, a delegation from Road and Transport Authority (RTA), the first official sponsor for NIVE, has met with the students of the National Institute for Vocational Education to select its future employees.
The RTA delegation that was headed by Mr. Yuosef Jawad, Head of Human Resource. He briefed the students on RTA before starting the selection process of 20 students out of 30 short listed students to be trained and prepared by the Authority during their study in NIVE.
This comes after RTA has signed an agreement with Dubai Educational Council DEC to sponsor 20 High school graduates from the National Institute for Vocational Education (NIVE) for a two year program which will include five different specializations; IT, Finance & accounting, Public Relations, Sales & Marketing and Human Resources.
"One of our top priorities is to encourage national cadres by equipping them with the knowledge and academic education in order to develop their skills. We show our utmost support to our employees by sending them to training courses, conferences, and national and international symposiums to enhance their proficiency and expertise," said Mr. Yuosef.
He added, "Students will be trained and directed through the Institute to be fully prepared to work along with their colleagues in Road and Transport Authority after graduation."
"NIVE offers vocational education at international level by teaching specialized programs developed by internationally reputed educational institutions. The students selected by the RTA will undergo intensive on-job training under the supervision of their instructors to develop their skills and to become acquainted with nature of the work in real situations. Thus, as soon as students graduate, they will be fully prepared to take their responsibility of their jobs.
"We are looking forward for further sponsorships with other leading organizations in the country for better serving our students and providing them with all the requirements needed for their future employment," said Mr. Mohamad Ali Zinal, member of Dubai Educational Council, consultant for NIVE.
Commenting on the process of the selection, Mr. Mohamad Sidhom, Executive Director, NIVE said, " The selection process was initially based on the student's definite wish to start their future career within RTA in addition to their results shown in the assessment."
The National Institute for Vocational Education (NIVE), an initiative of Dubai Education Council, commenced its first academic semesters 2006/07 with students recruited in specialized programmes of Vocational Education suit the requirements of the job market.
It is worth mentioning that the number of students will duplicate this year after the admission of more students into the Institute next January. Plans are underway to expand the institute to cover a wider spectrum of specializations at various levels to suit the local business and industry requirements. The Institute will work on reinforcing relations with companies in need of the vocational expertise and make sure the students undergo intensive on-job training at those companies as part of their study course.
