BJ Services awarded hammer services contract in Qatar
BJ Tubular Services announced it has been awarded a contract to provide conductor driving services offshore Qatar for the Qatargas 3 and Qatargas 4 projects.
The projects are being jointly executed by Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (3), a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and ConocoPhillips, and Qatar Petroleum and Shell, as sponsors of Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (4), prior to its incorporation as a joint venture.
BJ Tubular Services personnel will use the S150 Hydrohammer to drive up to 31 x 26-inch conductors for QG3 and QG4. In addition to designing and manufacturing drive shoes and deviated drive shoes for these offshore drilling locations, BJ will provide handling tools and cold cutting and pipe prepping services.
The gas field is located approximately 55 miles from the northeastern coast of Qatar. Work on this two-year contract is scheduled to commence this autumn, with the majority of services scheduled for completion by March 2007. All related services are being provided by BJ Tubular Services dedicated personnel located at the division's base in the Salwa industrial area of Doha, Qatar.
"We are extremely pleased to have been awarded this contract for our hammer services in Qatar. Given the importance of the Qatar market and this exciting new development, the successful award of this work further establishes our growing reputation as the premier provider of conductor installation and associated services in the Middle East," said Kenny Watt, division manager of BJ Tubular Services.
Building Relationships in Qatar
The contract award comes on the heels of a successful operation for Qatar Shell GTL Ltd in Qatar. In 2005, BJ Tubular Services carried out casing and tubing running services for two wells on Shell's development in the North Field at NSF-1 offshore Qatar, in support of the gas to liquids (GTL) project.
BJ Services Company (BJS-NYSE, CBOE) is a leading provider of pressure pumping and related oilfield services to the petroleum industry. The Company operates in every major oil and gas producing region.
