Yemen, $10bn GCC bid

Yemen is seeking $10bn in aid over the next five years to help prepare for membership of the GCC, a government official told London-based Arabic daily Al Hayat. Planning Minister Adel Karim Al Arhabi said a total investment of $25bn is needed to bring the country up to the level of the six GCC states, 15bn of which will be provided from domestic sources. The country will make an appeal at a donors' conference in London on 15-16 November.
