Concept Media appointed Middle East Sales Agents for World Retail Congress

Concept Media and UK-based Emap Communications have signed a Memorandum of Understanding appointing the Dubai-based publishing company as the official sales agent for the Middle East and RetailME magazine as the official media partner for the upcoming World Retail Congress, to be held in Barcelona from March 28 to 30, 2007.
"Today retail companies are striving to offer sophisticated retailing through alternative sales channels, which will continue to position them effectively within the market," said Aldrin Fernandes, Chief Executive Officer, Concept Media. "Changing behaviour and expectations of consumers demands constant monitoring, measuring and managing the needs of customers. Concept Media has always been involved in supporting initiatives for developments of the retail industry in the Middle East, making us the ideal partner for this event," said Mr. Fernandes.
Emap Communications identifies the tremendous potential in the Middle East, which makes it an ideal market with opportunities for growth through global sourcing, off-shoring and the development for modern retailing. "The participants will be keen to draw on the experiences of Middle East retailers, who have spurred growth in local economy, and made the region attractive for investment," said Pierre Pereira, Managing Director, RetailME.
The event will bring together leading retail industry personalities including Mohamed Alshaya, CEO of the AlShaya Group, who is also a member of the Congress Advisory Board, Sir Terry Leahy, CEO, Tesco, Anders Dahlvig, President & CEO, Ikea Group, Motoya Okada, President, AEON and José Luis Duran, CEO, Carrefour.
The event has also attracted support from the Majid Al Futtaim Group, Chalhoub Group, Damas, Paris Gallery and Istithmar Retail, all of who have confirmed their participation and will also be guest speakers at the upcoming event.
The World Retail Awards are also set to premier at the event, with the domestic, cross border and multinational retailers from around the world competing on a level playing field. The Congress is organised by Emap Communications, with Visa confirmed as the Congress headline partner and KSA (Kurt Salmon Associates) as Awards headline partner. Co-sponsors include CBRE, Deloitte and Oracle.
