  • PRESS RELEASE

Intel unveiled its plans for GITEX 2006 today, with an agenda to showcase its latest technologies based on Intel Core 2 Duo processor, using the theme 'Multiply', the company's most significant marketing campaign in size and scope in recent times.

"With focus on delivering the best-to-market products to all our business and consumer markets, GITEX attendees will have the chance to see and try for themselves the power of the digital home, digital office and mobility from Intel." said Samir Al Schamma, Intel General Manager, GCC.

The showcased Intel Core 2 Duo processor family is based on the Intel® Core™ microarchitecture, which enables industry-leading performance and energy efficiency so consumers can do more computing while consuming less energy. With the power of dual or multiple cores, the processors manage tasks faster and run multiple applications more smoothly, such as Web browsing, downloading music or videos and conducting a virus scan. These dual-core chips also improve such tasks as viewing and playing high-definition video, protecting the PC and its assets during e-commerce transactions, and enabling improved battery life for sleeker, lighter notebooks.

"The Core 2 Duo processors are simply the best processors in the world," said Al Schamma. "Not since Intel introduced the Pentium® processor has the industry seen the heart of the computer reinvented like this. The Core 2 Duo desktop processor is an energy-efficient marvel, packing 291 million transistors yet consuming 40 percent lower power, while delivering the performance needed for the applications of today and tomorrow."

For the digital office, Intel will highlight its Intel® vPro™ technology, a package of hardware and software that marks a major change in what businesses can expect from their PCs, providing IT workers with unprecedented levels of computing performance and more proactive control of security and costs. Intel also said early trials with select Fortune 500 companies showed a potential power cost savings that averaged around 40 percent.

"Very simply, vPro is a change of course in the way businesses and IT managers view and use PCs," said Al Schamma. "We are packing in features that address the concerns that businesses voice most - security threats, cost of ownership, resource allocation, asset management and uptime -- into a single platform that is powered by the greatest multi-core processor in the world."

For professionals and individuals on-the-go, Intel will showcase its Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology with Intel Core2 Duo mobile processors inside which provide double the performance and give consumers and businesses an immersive mobile experience while keeping power consumption and battery life unchanged.

"GITEX continues to attract key decision makers from around the region including government officials, consumers and educators," said Al Schamma.

"As the Middle East's leading IT event the Show presents Intel with the perfect opportunity to showcase its latest technology, to meet customers face to face and to discuss with them how Intel can best meet their needs."

Intel will be in Hall 3, Stand B3-20 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. GITEX takes place from November 18th to 22nd 2006.
