- PRESS RELEASE
As part of its strategy to create career opportunities and not just jobs for promising UAE nationals, du recently held its second employment open day.
Over 652 young UAE nationals, who had submitted applications for a career with du, attended the two-day event.
Fahad Al Hassawi, Executive Vice President for Human Resources of du, said the company aimed to achieve its goal of encouraging national talent by implementing a constructive action plan. The second open day was organised in the wake of the success of its predecessor, which was held in May this year.
Hassawi said: "Attendees who hold diplomas and high school certificates learned about existing career opportunities with du contact centres, and the benefits offered by the Company to UAE nationals.'
Ali Mohamed Alawadi, National Recruitment and Development Manager said: "du offers careers, not just jobs. This is ensured by creating clear and promising career paths, utilizing motivating tools of incentives, encouragement, and support for nationals to excel and develop in the corporate world."
Alawadi challenged young UAE nationals to change the stereotype of a 'Customer Service Representative' from a person who answers phone calls to a valuable team member.
He said: "The position requires special skills in interacting with customers internally and externally. There are enormous opportunities within the department for a 'Customer Services Representative' to develop into a 'Team Leader', then to a 'Supervisor' and finally a 'Centre Manager'."
UAE nationals who attended the open day said du is their employer of choice as it provides them with unique career opportunities and excellent scope for growth.
Eighteen-year-old Waleed Mohammed Abdullah looks forward to joining du. He said: "I am excited about building a career with du, it suits my personality to be a customer services representative."
Jamal Al Shammar, who considers the work environment and culture to be key factors when selecting a job, said: "After attending the open day, I feel that working with du will be like gaining a new family, and not just a regular salaried job. du focuses on a positive and friendly work environment, providing the support and guidance that I would need to deliver my best."
He added: "I can see myself working in customer care because I enjoy helping and assisting others with their problems."
