The American Hospital Dubai opens new Outpatient Clinic Building

The additional space will also allow the expansion of existing physician services in Obstetric and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Primary Care, Surgery, and Oncology. New physician services will be introduced through units dedicated to Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Allergy, Retina Surgery, and Head and Neck Surgery.

'The American Hospital Dubai is responding to the strong increase in local and regional demand for our Physician's services with an ongoing expansion program on our medical campus,' says Mr Michael French, CEO of the American Hospital Dubai. 'It allows us to develop further the tertiary medical services we offer and to add new services for the community, offering American standard healthcare across an even wider range of therapeutic areas, and to significantly more patients.'

In addition to the new facilities and services, the hospital continues its ongoing physician recruitment plan, which will extend the number of American Board Certified or equivalent practicing physicians at the Hospital from 60 to 110 over the next two years.

'Quality is the watchword of everything we do at the American Hospital Dubai and this latest phase of our expansion program demonstrates this, while continuing to enhance our customer service,' adds Mr French. 'We have adopted the American model of Healthcare, which is recognized as being the best in the world, and so all of the American Hospital Dubai's new facilities meet the specifications of the American Institute of Architects and the requirements of Joint Commission International, which accredits the hospital. In fact, the hospital recently achieved its third JCI accreditation.

The same high quality standards apply to our medical staff - we are recruiting a substantial number of new physicians, all of whom are North American Board Certified or equivalent, which is our standard, and that is what makes us so different in the region.'

The Outpatient Clinic Building comprises five levels - basement, ground plus three stories - which will house 144 new clinic exam rooms, The ground floor is a split atrium design, which also houses an Outpatient Pharmacy, a Medical Retail Outlet, Blood Collection Station, a Patient Education Center, and a Coffee Shop. Clinics are based on both the ground floor and the upper stories, and offer child friendly facilities including playrooms. The top (third) floor is home to offices, administrative support functions and the new conference center and auditorium. The new Oncology / Hematology suite is also based on the third floor.

A new, 22,000 square meter multi story car park - basement, ground plus six floors - is constructed adjacent to the Outpatient Clinic Building and provides an additional 511 car parking spaces. The car park is connected to the clinics building at the basement level through air conditioned corridors and elevators, and a covered walkway on the ground level.

'We still have space available on the site for additional expansion and we are already planning a new Inpatient Tower Bed Hospital building to begin construction in 2007,' Mr French concludes.
