'In PDO we attach significant attention to areas that help and promote various segments of the Omani society OHC as such is an appropriate platform to boost the concept of Occupational Health in Oman through bringing in elite specialized speakers from across the world', he noted.
According to global organizations, workers in developing countries are at greater risk of occupational hazards for a variety of reasons, including lower rates of education, inadequate training and infrastructure. The PDO official said that although Oman has for some years been looking into and studying the issue of Occupational Health, and is considered a leader in the region, this conference as such is going to further address the situation and come up with solutions and recommendations.
The Occupational health Conference - Oman hosted by PDO from 11-13 December 2006, will address among other issues environmental, organizational and cultural factors which impact on physical, mental and social wellbeing in the workplace. The conference will feature plenary sessions, panel discussions and workshops to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and debate on solutions.
OHC aims at reducing risks of occupational hazards, says PDO official
AbdulAmir Al-Ajmi, External Affairs and Communications Manager in Oman's PDO said that hosting the regional Occupational Health Conference is part of PDO's role as a good corporate citizen.
