Commenting on the recent award, Daniel Weissland, Head of Sales at Audi Middle East, said,
"Safety is of course paramount to the development of any of Audi's models. To receive a top award from such an authority is of great importance to Audi and how the brand is perceived in the market."
The performance SUV built by the brand with the four rings was put through two high-load crash tests by the NHTSA: a frontal collision at 35mph (56km/h), and a side-on collision through a mobile barrier moving at a speed of 38.5mph (62km/h).
The tough test requirements of the NHTSA are even more demanding than the legal requirements in the US. The values recorded by the testers for both the driver and the front passenger of the Audi Q7 in frontal and side-on collisions satisfy the criteria for a 5-star rating in every respect.
The Audi Q7 also boasts exemplary standards of active safety. It is equipped with the latest-generation ESP with brake assist, hill-start assist and rollover stabilisation as standard. The Audi Side Assist lane-changing monitor and the latest generation of Adaptive Cruise Control, Audi Cruise Control with braking guard, which slows the Audi Q7 right down to a standstill if need be, are also available.
