Students at Al Mawakeb School, Dubai, with the new HP notebooks with tailor-made features to enable students to further their learning in the classroom.
HP has provided Al Mawakeb with over 320 HP Compaq nc6320 notebooks with the latest Intel Duo Core that have tailor-made features helping to optimize the utility of the notebooks and enhancing the use of multimedia technologies in the learning process, improving the student skills on the subject matter... The new notebooks are also supported by a wireless network through HP servers to allow a stable and reliable solution to provide a full IT infrastructure for the students.

The notebooks are designed for durability and performance fitted with an anti-scratch, spill proof keyboard and come with HP Mobile HDD protection and biometric fingerprint sensors to protect the student's information. The 6-in-1 card reader also allows the students to transfer and store data in different media formats and is fully supported by a three year warranty.

Salim Ziade, SPO Manager, HP Middle East, commented, "HP is delighted to be working with Al Mawakeb School as we are very supportive of student learning. Through the use of technology, students today can become that much more equipped for the business lives tomorrow."

The N4B project is an exciting innovation bringing the state-of-the-art technology into the high school classroom, replacing the traditional lessons and standard teaching materials with notebook computers and smart boards controlled by the teacher's PC station.

Teachers are also involved in the initiative. Their lessons are now digitized in form of presentations, animated and enhanced with visualisation effects, which give them more time to focus on students.

"At Al Mawakeb, we see it as our duty to deliver learning in the most enjoyable, clear, interactive and beneficial manner to our students," said George Akhras, Head if IT, Al Mawakeb.

He continued, "As such we recognized a great opportunity in creating a high-tech solution that complements our curriculum by helping us add interactive content, make learning more flexible to our students, and enable collaboration and development. Also, this solution carries brand new management capabilities which have helped us enhance our school management productivity and make new services available online to parents, students and teachers at all time."

Maroun Osta, Managing Director, Interconnect, said, "As developers, we wanted to truly reflect the spirit of the "Notebooks for Books" initiative, so most of the solution was developed onsite at Al Mawakeb. This was only made possible by mobile computing, where a laptop computer can be turned into a fully digital, intelligent, book that students can also carry around and use to access information wirelessly over the web at anytime. We wanted to ensure as much interactivity and ease of use as possible, to construct an enjoyable experience for students, parents, teachers and administrators."

The deal also involves full support for the notebooks and servers, with training.
