MOE & DEC sign joint agreement

As part of the Ministry's efforts towards developing education in the UAE through decentralizing the educational process and implementing the Ministerial Decree number 3/97 for the year 2006., the Minister of Education, Dr. Hanif Hassan, has announced that Dubai Education Council DEC will manage the Dubai Education Zone.

This comes to reemphasize the significance of the Education sector in the UAE under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and their brethrens members of the UAE Supreme Council.

The Ministry's collaboration with DEC is intended to uphold the high standards of education and cater for further development and progress in this significant field. For that purpose, DEC will work on developing and implementing new strategies in coordination with the Ministry to accommodate the fast pace of development and growth in the UAE.

"Education in the UAE has developed significantly throughout the past few decades and we are very proud with our achievements. However, we have learnt from our leadership that we need to broaden our ambitions and push our efforts to the farthest limits. DEC's initiatives will continue to support those of the Ministry to enhance the education system in the country" said Dr. Hassan, Minister of Education.

"Transferring the management of the Dubai Education Zone to Dubai Education Council comes as a logical step towards implementing the federal standards and demands. The ministry will continue to work in coordination with DEC to guarantee that the intended plans adhere to the long term general objectives." added Dr. Hassan.

His Excellency Mr. Ahmad Bin Byat, Chairman of the DEC hailed the new decision and said "the Council will work alongside the Ministry to develop the educational outcomes in accordance with the growing demands of our local job market by regulating and implementing long term strategies designed to achieve these goals.

"Decentralizing the management of the education sector will definitely provide greater flexibility and transparency in devising and executing short and mid term plans which will prove to be both efficient and fast, while maintaining a high level of cooperation and coordination with the Ministry."

His Excellency reemphasized the fact that the council will adopt a methodology that secures the effective participation of the educational leadership and provides high levels of transparency for the employees of the educational sectors. He added "we are keen on including the educational field in the decision making process to achieve the best results, since we realize the great role that they play in molding the educational future. DEC will strive to enhance the efficiency of the Educational human capital by training and reinforcing their roles."
