On this day, Motorola employees around the world will roll up their sleeves and devote four hours of service to the communities where they live and work. In Egypt, Motorola staff will visit the Gonood Al Rahman orphanage, located in 6th October City, to contribute food, clothing, blankets, and other vitally-needed commodities.
In addition, the more than 30 children living at the Gonood Al Rahman orphanage will receive toys and other small treats as part of the MOTOCARE outreach.
'The MOTOCARE global day of service enables Motorola Egypt to focus on one of our main areas of charitable giving - children in need,' said Sayed Gharbawi, Egypt country manager for Motorola. 'It gives us the opportunity to directly impact our local community and the timing of this global event during the holy month of Ramadan is ideal.'
Previous corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities initiated by Motorola Egypt include blood donation at the company's office, and the Motorola Future Generation Foundation, which sponsored twenty underprivileged students in business basic skills training including computer skills and English language literacy.
Motorola Egypt's work with the Gonood Al Rahman orphanage complements the other region-wide MOTOCARE efforts taking place on October 18th, which include painting and gardening in Jordan through a partnership with the Greater Amman Municipality, developing entrepreneurship skills in Arab students with Injaz offices from across the Middle East, and the recycling of mobile phones and laser printer cartridges to benefit the Riding for the Disabled Association in Dubai.
Speaking to members of the Egyptian media at a suhoor event this week, Motorola's country manager Gharbawi added, 'The Egyptian community has embraced the Motorola brand during the last ten years and we welcome the occasion to give back our time and resources through MOTOCARE day and other CSR activities.'
