DCCI appoints Hamad Buamim as Director General

The Board of Directors of Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) have announced the appointment of Engineer, Hamad Mubarak Buamim as Director General of the DCCI upon accepting the retirement request presented by His Excellency Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, DCCI Director General, starting from November 1st, 2006.

The DCCI Board of Directors said that the decision was made despite several attempts to convince Al Mutaiwee to reconsider his resignation. His long work experience goes back to 1983 when he took over his post as director general, as well as 23-year tenure in DCCI through which he acquired remarkable achievements.

The DCCI Board of Directors' decision to appoint Engineer Hamad Mubarak Buamim as Al Mutaiwee's successor, comes in the line with the DCCI's strategy that aims at prevailing an opportunity for nationals to occupy leadership roles. Buamim started work as a Deputy Director General of the DCCI last April.

His Excellency Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, DCCI Chairman, said that Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee is one of the DCCI's pillars whose effective roles helped in serving the local business community in Dubai. He extended his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the DCCI Board of Directors to Al Mutaiwee for his wise leadership of the Chamber during a period of economic boom throughout the whole country.

He appreciated his efforts in keeping the competitiveness of the DCCI to provide its services to the local business community and foreign investors, while keeping on offering the best information about the local and international economic community. Al Tayer congratulated Buamim on his new post as director general wishing him all the best.

"I would like to thank the DCCI Board of Directors for their continuous support during my service in this organization. I also thank my colleagues for their serious efforts to contribute positively to the business community of Dubai and enabling the chamber to acquire international standards. I am entirely confident that appointing Hamad Buamim as a Director General of DCCI is a wise decision and I wish him all the best in his career. Hereby, I would like to ensure my full commitment and support to DCCI on all fronts," said Al Mutaiwee on the occasion.

Throughout his 11-year work experience, Engineer Buamim occupied a number of significant positions such as: Secretary General of the Dubai Economic Council and Commercial Director at HSBC Bank. He also worked as a lecturer at the Economy and Business College of UAE University, as well as a Senior System Engineer at the Planning and Development Department of DEWA. Buamim is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Bank, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Export Development Corporation, and a member of the Business Advising Council of Dubai University.

Buamim Holds an MBA with honors from Missouri, Kansas, USA. His major was in banks and financial affairs management. Buamim also graduated with Mega cum Laud BS in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from California University in the USA in 1996.
