Wataniya posts 22% profit increase

Kuwait's Wataniya Telecom reports its profit for the first nine months of 2006 reached $172.3m, representing an increase of 22% over the corresponding period in 2005. Revenues grew 40% to $1.06bn. The telco says its subscriber based increased to around 8.8m from 5.2m during the period, after strong gains in markets in Algeria, Iraq, the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
