Tawam Hospital appoints Ed Lembcke as IT Applications Specialist
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, October 25 - 2006 at 11:46
- PRESS RELEASE
Tawam Hospital, the UAE and Gulf region's premier healthcare provider has announced the appointment of Ed Lembcke as IT Applications Specialist at the 469-bed, Al Ain-based medical facility reputed for specialist treatments in family medicine, fertility and intensive care.
Michael Heindel, CEO, Tawam Hospital said: "Tawam Hospital is privileged to have Ed Lembcke on the IT team. His appointment will contribute to enhancing clinical outcomes and maximising operational efficiency at the facility, thus ensuring the benefits of prompt services and reduced costs for the hospital's patients."
Welcoming his appointment, Lembcke said: "I am glad to be a part of Tawam Hospital and I hope the hospital can benefit significantly from my role as an IT Applications Specialist. I'm impressed with the level of skill and professionalism that I've seen and have no doubts regarding the bright future of Tawam Hospital."
Ed began his career in IT with system engineering over ten years ago but after working in a hospital, he specialised in healthcare IT. His responsibilities and specialisation then grew from engineering to deployment of large-scale clinical information systems and finally to IT management.
"The biggest challenge of healthcare IT systems is not in implementing the technology but in creating engagement and acceptance among the people at whom the technology is targeted. The modern hospital is a dynamic place interacting with different people and personalities. Finding a way forward to meet the variety of needs and implement the hospital's strategy at the same time, is a difficult task. Engagement and empathy at all levels is the key to achieve this," Lembcke observed.
Ed comes to Tawam Hospital from Bangkok Medical Center, a large private hospital group in Thailand, where he worked as Hospital Information Systems Manager. Here he is credited with successfully upgrading planning to a core electronic medical record system that included centralisation of all patient data across the group's 14 hospitals. He was also responsible for setting up South East Asia's first full point of care laboratory system at the Center.
A Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Design from Oklahoma State University in the United States, Ed has held various positions including that of Head of IT and Project Manager of PACS at George Eliot Hospital in UK; IT Director at Brooker Group in Bangkok; IS Director at Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok; IT engineering consultant at the government-run Burapha University in Bangsaer, Thailand; and as Systems Engineer at Salt Lake Commission College in the US.
