Abu Dhabi airport sees self-service check-in double
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, December 18 - 2012 at 00:24
According to the 7th SITA/Air Transport World Passenger Self-Service Survey, the use of self-service check-in at Abu Dhabi International Airport has nearly doubled over the last year, with 17% of its passengers now using the service compared with 9% in 2011. However, despite the increase in self-service use, the region is still well behind other international hubs, the report said. At a global level, self-service check-in now stands at 68% of passengers, with other airports surveyed, including Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson at a record level of 85%. "The survey highlights a cultural shift in the region with passenger attitudes to self-service technology changing fast," said Hani El Assaad, SITA President, Middle East, India and Africa. "Self-service check-in and online ticket booking are growing rapidly and this is just the start."
