Abu Dhabi Conference to shed light on Dhs180bn projects market in 2013

Economic activity in Abu Dhabi will continue its upward momentum in 2013 as the UAE capital sees Dhs180bn worth of new projects to be awarded next year, in addition to a Dhs36bn project spending spree in Al Ain as part of its 2030 development strategy.
"The Abu Dhabi Conference 2012 is the most prestigious platform where future prospects and commercial opportunities resulting from the Emirate's economic growth are identified. Now on its 7th year, the event will once again gather over 300 top-level representatives including Abu Dhabi's most influential leaders and the international community to discuss the latest developments, key milestones and upcoming investment and project opportunities across Abu Dhabi's major sectors leading up to Abu Dhabi Vision 2030," said Edmund O' Sullivan, Chairman, MEED Events.
The Abu Dhabi Conference 2012 will give an update on current and upcoming projects across the emirate's infrastructure, transport, healthcare, education, heavy manufacturing, power & water, real estate & construction, banking & finance, and oil & gas sectors; and present insights on the future prospects of Abu Dhabi's robust and expanding projects market.
This year has been a busy one for the projects market in Abu Dhabi, with more than Dhs300bn projects currently underway, led by Dhs120bn projects in the Oil & Gas sector, as well as a further dhs98bn worth of real estate and construction projects. The transport sector is abuzz with Dhs48bn in projects currently ongoing, while healthcare is doing well with Dhs15bn worth of projects. The manufacturing and industrial sectors are equally robust with projects amounting to Dhs22bn, and the power & water sector with Dhs5bn worth of projects.
H.E. Mohammed Omar Abdulla of the Abu Dhabi Economic Department will open the conference with a keynote on Abu Dhabi's economic achievements and thrusts for 2013. H.E. Engr. Abdullah Al Shamsi, Executive Director, Infrastructure Sector, Abu Dhabi Municipality will present an overview of the strategy, objectives, programmes and projects delivered across the emirate's municipalities. Private sector opportunities will also be discussed with Daniel Molloy, Acting Chief Development Officer, Abu Dhabi Airport Company providing an update on Abu Dhabi's midfield airport expansion project, among other important speakers.
