Abu Dhabi EHS Center launches 'Qudorat'

The Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety Center (AD EHS Center) launched the registration system "Qudorat" which is a national program that aims to develop the qualifications and level of competencies of establishments and individuals working in occupational health and safety and other workplaces relevant fields.

The ceremony was opened by H.E. Majid Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs, Chairman of the EHS Higher Committee and the registration system was introduced by Dr. Jaber Al Jaberi, Deputy Secretary General of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), Acting Director of the AD EHS Center, with nearly 160 representatives from sectors and government entities as well as representatives from the Ministry of Labor and other strategic partners.

In his speech, Mr. Al Mansouri expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation for the Abu Dhabi Government, represented by the Executive Council, for its continued support for all that contributes to the provision of safe work places, including the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety Management System, which encompasses the registration system Qudorat.

H.E. pointed that: "Qudorat is a pioneering national initiative program aiming to qualify and develop capabilities of establishments and individuals working in the field occupational health and safety in Abu Dhabi Emirate."

Al Mansouri further stressed that this program aims to achieve quality in the performance of individuals and establishments, to reach the best outcomes, and that it shall contribute to the provision of manpower qualified to perform the relevant specializations in addition to provision of employment opportunities in the field of occupational health and safety in different parties. It will also provide specialized training institutions as required to upgrade qualifications and competency of individuals working in the field of occupational health and safety.

Dr. Jaber Al Jaberi, Deputy Secretary General of EAD, Acting Director of the AD EHS Center, overviewed Qudorat in terms of objectives, relationship with the AD EHSMS, importance for the Emirate, principles, constituents, roles in implementing it, and key features of its corresponding electronic application web portal.

Al Jaberi said that "The Center has developed Qudorat in line with best international practice, under auspices of the EHS Higher Committee, through a consulting firm affiliated with an international certification body, and in collaboration and consultation with the Sector Regulatory Authorities supervising implementation of AD EHSMS in the emirate, other concerned government bodies, and some international bodies, including IOSH, ASSE and RABQSA International".

Al Jaberi added that Qudorat is comprised of two main electronic applications, the first of which is for the registration of EHS Professional Entities (companies / establishments) working in the EHS fields, while the second is for the registration of EHS Practitioners (individuals) working in these fields. He also added that registration of individuals and establishments will commence in phases and will be specified by the Center.
