  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, April 04 - 2013 at 01:34

Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport (DoT) has announced the launch of the integrated Variable Electronic Message Signs (VMS) initiative that will see 86 electronic signs installed in the UAE capital city to alert motorists of congestions ahead and other traffic problems, Khaleej Times has reported. The VMS system will be installed in phases and will be fully operational during the third quarter of 2014. "The electronic signs will allow us to communicate with motorists in real time to ensure they are kept up to date with necessary traffic information to plan their route accordingly and be aware of any upcoming traffic issues," said DoT.
