  • PRESS RELEASE

Over a million travellers in Italy's fashion capital, Milan, have been exposed to Abu Dhabi's 'Travellers Welcome' attractions with a major advertising campaign throughout the city's transport network.

Advertising billboards adorned 100 underground stations with metro trains wrapped in Abu Dhabi imagery.

"Italy is currently providing strong hotel guest growth for Abu Dhabi with 34,479 Italians staying in our accommodation from January to the end of November last year, which represents a 22% increase on the same period in 2011," explained Mubarak Al Nuaimi, International Promotions Manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), which launched the campaign. "These guests produced 187,674 guest nights for the destination with Italians being amongst our longest-staying guests averaging stays of 5.4 nights. But with so much more to do and see in Abu Dhabi with the recent opening of new attractions and resorts - we want to entice more of them to come, and to stay even longer. With Etihad flying twice-daily from Milan to Abu Dhabi International Airport we have considerable capacity with which to achieve our aim."
