Abu Dhabi public schools to have their own websites

Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) will be launching a three phased project to provide Abu Dhabi public schools with websites linked directly to ADEC's main portal.

Ms Hanan Al-Sahlawi, ADEC Strategic Communication and Media Division Manager, commented on the initiative. She said: "This project comes in line with ADEC's continuous effort to establish a solid base of communication with the community using the various means of modern communication and technology. The new project is part of ADEC's strategy to provide schools with latest technology to enhance their performance," adding that even though content will be different in each school; all school websites will be linked to ADEC's main portal.

The project is implemented by the Strategic Communication and Media Division in collaboration with ADEC's ICT Division which will provide their technical support.

"The best and latest technology has been used to design school websites in accordance with today's requirements and to meet ADEC's standards and branding guidelines that are in line with Abu Dhabi's vision. All websites have the same type of content and key points," explained Ms. Al-Sahlawi.

The school's website is a link between the school and the surrounding community. It includes general information about school structure, events calendar, media centre, knowledge centre and other useful links.

Seven schools throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have been selected to implement the first phase of the project. The schools are: the Al-Ameen School, Mubarak Bin Mohammad School, Khalifa A Abu Dhabi School, Al-Raqiya and Amro Bin Al-Aas Schools in Al Ain and the Al-Marfaa and Al-Siddique Schools in the Western Region.

ADEC has organized several workshops to introduce project objectives, processes and to train staff on how to enter data and manage the website. The trained teams will supervise and implement the projects at their schools.

ADEC will work closely with schools during the implementation of phase one for the project and monitor them during data entry, content and applying the new website requirements. Following the completion of phase one, all challenges shall be identified in order to avoid any mishaps during the 2nd and 3rd phase.

The 1st phase will be reviewed and evaluated in order to make necessary improvements and updates while the 2nd phase includes 50 schools. The 3rd phase of the project includes all Abu Dhabi public schools.

Ms Fatma Al-Hammadi from the Khalifa A School lauded the project and said that the workshop gave them a clear vision of project's goals and implementation process.

Ms Fahima Al-Muhairi, Amro Bin Al-Aas School said that creating websites for all Abu Dhabi schools is a unique experience that comes in line with ADEC's effort to enhance and improve school performance.

Mr. Mohammad Riyad from the Al-Siddique School said that the website shall reflect the school's activities as it displays events, timetable, exam schedule and more.
