Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012 reaches out to Al Ain and Al Gharbia

Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012 extends the exciting Festival experience to the public through a series of amazing science demonstrations at four of Abu Dhabi's most popular malls.

These engaging activities will take place daily from this week and continue for the duration of the 2012 Science Festival running on October 10-20 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and on the Corniche (West Plaza) in addition to bespoke locations at Al Ain and Al Gharbia.

As part of the Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012's commitment to showcasing the wonders of science to the population of Abu Dhabi, a special program has been designed to bring the spirit of the Festival into the malls maximizing the community's engagement and inviting them to experience more of the Festival's captivating activities at its main venues, ADNEC and Corniche.

The activated malls are "Al Wahda Mall" and "Mushrif Mall" in Abu Dhabi "Al Ain Mall" in Al Alin and "City Mall" in Al Gharbia. Whilst taking time out of their busy schedules, shoppers will be engaged by the Tricycle of Tricks, also known as the Busking Bikes, and will be amazed at the impressive, explosive, messy, and marvellous science experiments. They will be transfixed by the fireproof balloons, wowed by water being transformed into a solid and dive for cover from the fountains of lemonade.

Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012, organized by the Technology Development Committee (TDC), has a program of events created especially for children to connect the fun activities with learning, as part of a strategic initiative dedicated towards building Abu Dhabi's knowledge economy. The aim of the Abu Dhabi Science Festival is to inspire our children to pursue education and careers in Science, Technology and Innovation.

The Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012 has plenty to thrill and fascinate visitors, with a huge entertaining range of hands-on workshops, interactive exhibits and spectacular shows.

To target the Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2012's core audience of 5-15 year olds, popular social media sites have been buzzing with the upcoming events, while Festival enthusiasts are briefed daily with the latest updates on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. The Festival's social media platforms has engaged near 20,000 followers and fans on Twitter, Facebook while YouTube has generated over 22,500 video views.

Thousands of seats have already been pre-booked for favourite activities, and bookings are increasing as the festival nears its opening on October 10, 2012.

The Abu Dhabi Science Festival is organized by TDC in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council as Education Partner, Edinburgh International Science Festival as Programming Partner, Tawazun as Presenting Sponsor, Dolphin Energy as Main Sponsor; in affiliation with ADNOC, Etihad Airways, Total and Masdar; and produced by Flash Entertainment.
