- PRESS RELEASE
H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and the ambassador of South Korea, with H.E. Dr. Kwon Tae Kyun, explored methods of mutual cooperation in higher education to include scientific research and students and academic exchange during a meeting held at the new UAEU campus in Al Ain.
"There is a common desire between students of both countries to explore the cultural, linguistic and scientific knowledge. Therefore, as a flagship institution with strong academic leadership we continuously seek to invest in the needs of our students and to improve and sharpen their skills by delegating our students to other pioneer universities, organizations and companies as well as hosting Korean students at our university for study and training," Dr. Al Noaimi added.
H.E. Dr. Kwon Tae Kyun, Ambassador of South Korea, expressed his enthusiasm about the cooperation with UAEU, "We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UAEU and we will work to deliver on this memorandum as we know the scientific standing of UAEU as a pioneer university. We look forward to broadening the mutual cooperation by increasing visits, expertise and delegations exchange."
Prof. Mohamed Albaili, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences, commented, "During the meeting we also presented the idea of mutual cooperation to teach a Korean Language course within the Translation Department at CHSS which was welcomed by the visiting delegation. Our students have expressed a keen interest in learning Korean and there is already an established Korean Club (Arirang) on campus which attracts a vast number of students. The students also are aware of the importance of the Korean language and culture as South Korea is considered as an advanced industrial and economical country. Offering the Korean language for our students will provide them with new job opportunities as there are more than 160 South Korean companies operating across the UAE."
After the meeting the visiting delegation toured the new campus and met with students and visited the classrooms and library.
