ADFCA donates large quantity of food products to Red Crescent

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has donated food and dates weighing nearly a ton to the 'Preservation of Grace' humanitarian initiative of the Red Crescent Society. The food and dates were received by the Authority from the exhibitors at the end of the SIAL Middle East and the Emirates International Date Palm Festival.
Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the Authority had donated 480 KG of food and 520 KG of dates.
"Soon after the events of SIAL and the Date Palm Festival, ADFCA inspectors inspected the food items remaining with the exhibitors and ensured they were fit for consumption. They destroyed the food items that they had found unfit for consumption," he pointed.
Al Reyaysa disclosed that 150 KG of food products were destroyed at the end of SIAL. "ADFCA did not let the exhibitors to randomly take out the food products after the event nor to distribute them to the visitors. All the remaining food was collected at the last day, subjected to rigorous inspections and donated to the 'Preservation of Grace' project," he pointed out.
In another development, HE Rashid Al Shariqi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, held a meeting with Valery Lobry, General Manager of SIAL Paris, in the presence of Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for SIAL Middle, to discuss mutual cooperation.
Ms. Lobry praised the Middle East edition of SIAL, to which Abu Dhabi has added its own distinctive character and accomplished a quantum leap that contributed to further enhancing SIAL Exhibitions around the world.
She stressed, "The SIAL Middle East had received great support and generous patronage from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority."
HE Rashid Al Shariqi, stated, "Hosting SIAL Middle East in Abu Dhabi had brought in more dynamism to the food sector, which is in line with the Abu Dhabi Government's strategy and vision to figure among the top 5 governments in the world."
"The success achieved through the SIAL Middle East reflects the vision of our wise leadership for food security issues and the importance of supplying local markets with all food products, as well as the development of local products and ensuring their competitiveness in the global markets," H.E added.
He emphasized, "The joining of Abu Dhabi to Paris, China, Brazil and Canada as an organizing country for SIAL has placed the capital city on the map of cities that attract investment from food companies from around the world."
