Organized by Media Lab and headed by CEO Mohammad Monier, the festival aims at enabling a mass promotion of the conservation of the environment to make Earth a better haven of life and to keep abreast of relevant developments in environmental conservation awareness.

On this occasion, Head of the Festival Mr. Mohamed Monier stated, the first of its kind in the Middle East, ADIEFF has attracted 158 films from 42 countries in addition to the participation of some environment relevant organizations including: UN Environment Program (UNEP), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), International Wide Life Fund (IWLF) and Disney nature. It also aimed at creating a non-conventional type for resisting threats to Earth by raising awareness through the use of motion picture.

He added,"The event is significant as it shows the momentum given by the UAE's leaders and relevant authorities to the issue of environment conservation and improvement of life diversities. It also serves as the hub of all efforts exerted by local community members and governmental and national authorities in charge of environment protection in the country. This would invite all people to increase environment awareness and further corporate responsibility towards the environment".

Monier pointed out That the event is sponsored by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan is an indication of His Highness's keenness to apply innovative standards and mechanisms that would guarantee success in those businesses related to environment conservation. The endeavor is enhanced by setting clear goals of the standards of environment work and evaluation and the use of a new medium, such as the cinema, for the discussion and evaluation of environmental issues, thus opening new horizons for outreaching a variety of segments of the society at large. The envisaged result is a society that is aware of the threats to the environment at present and in the future.

ADIEFF is a key contributor for raising public awareness on threats to the environment. The film shows, training workshops and other activities involving the public is hoped to create a new culture of documenting by a movie camera all that concerns environment in UAE. It will rely on all types of cinematic experience in the field of environment and provide such an experience in one place that is Abu-Dhabi. The aim is to use art as a means of communicating environmental concerns to all segments of the society with their different tongues and cultures and make a difference for the better.

ADIEFF's proclaimed goals are parallel with those efforts exerted by Abu-Dhabi Emirate to conserve the environment. Those include, for example, Abu-Dhabi Plan 2030, that gives lots of attention to the environment of the Capital City through the preservation of biodiversity. The festival also seeks to support those film and documentary projects aimed at improving man's positive interaction with the environment.
