Participants of the latest edition of GITEX, the Middle East's leading consumer computer and electronics trade show, were highly impressed by Abu Dhabi's ongoing efforts to transform itself into a digital society.
Marking its appearance at GITEX, ADSIC conducted presentations on four of its core e-service initiatives, namely the Abudhabi.ae e-Government Portal; the 24-hour Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre (800 555); the Jobs Abu Dhabi website; and the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI) program.
ADSIC explained that as a business gateway to the ICT sector of the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MEASA) Region, GITEX is an important platform to learn about the latest ICT developments, network with potential technology partners, and expose the Centre's personnel to technological advancements and best practices. Moreover, ADSIC regarded GITEX as an ideal channel to showcase Abu Dhabi's full commitment to ICT-powered development and growth.
"A lot of participants were surprised at the level of maturity of our ICT frameworks given the relatively short amount of time ADSIC has been working on their foundations. GITEX enabled us to express our pride in our achievements and portray Abu Dhabi as right on track in achieving its goal of becoming one of the world's most advanced governments. The event also allowed us to explore a lot of technologies and techniques that can further improve our initiatives, especially in terms of enabling good governance and delivering high-quality public services," said H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General, Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre.
GITEX organizers invited ADSIC to share more of its vision to regional and global audiences in future editions of the technology fair. ADSIC has confirmed that it will continue to tap major industry events such as GITEX to discuss Abu Dhabi's pioneering ICT strategies and gain valuable expertise and resources to enhance the Usage, Readiness and Environment of the local ICT landscape. The Centre continues to support three major elements of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 development plan, namely ICT Infrastructure, Government Excellence, and Environmental Sustainability.
