An agreement signed between Royal Scientific Society and USAID

An agreement was signed in Amman between the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and the United States Agency for International Development's project The Public Action for Water, Energy & Environment (PAP) to promote the participation of youth and community based organizations in issues of water and energy efficiency and conservation through the promotion of water-saving devices and energy-saving light bulbs in Ajloun, Mafraq and Ramtha areas.

The project, to be implemented over sixteen months, aims to instill correct behaviors related to water and energy among community members in cooperation with community based organizations in the targeted areas, Alwaethat (religious women guide), and youth between 18 and 25 years old. The project activities will be implemented in collaboration with the Higher Council for Youth, the Ministry of Education, and Directorate of Women's Affairs.

The agreement was signed by Dr.Odeh Al-Jayyousi, Vice President for Science and Research from the RSS, and Mr. Robert Cardinalli, Chief of Party-PAP.

The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) www.rss.jo is the largest applied research institution, consultancy, and technical support service provider in Jordan and is a regional leader in the fields of science & technology.

The Public Action for Water, Energy and Environment Project, a national education and communication program, was introduced to support USAID's technical and policy investments in the Jordanian water and energy sectors, and to support specific government priorities and initiatives in the same sectors. It is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
