- PRESS RELEASE
Honoring the people responsible for Jordan's most recent milestone, the new Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) terminal, Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian consortium responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of QAIA - has organized a large-scale employee event held at the newly-inaugurated building.
The event celebrated AIG's senior management and various department staff for their vital role in the development of what promises to be one of Jordan's most iconic landmarks. During their speeches, both AIG's Chairman, Nazim Al Qudsi, and CEO, Kjeld Binger, underscored the immense value that AIG's people have brought to the project.
"It takes more than vision, goals and strategy to achieve success; it requires passion, dedication and hard work by people who believe in that vision, strive to reach those goals and embrace the strategy. At AIG, we could not be any prouder than we are today of our employees, all of whom have proven to be more than up to the challenge of running the Kingdom's newest international gateway," commented Al Qudsi. "Not only have our employees been instrumental in getting us to where we are today, but they are also the key to reaching where we want to be in the future. Together, we look forward to positioning QAIA as an ideal choice for leisure and business travelers, and as a convenient transfer hub in the region."
While thanking the employees for their exceptional work ethic and tangible contributions, Binger stated, "Today, we have a world-class airport maintained by world-class people. While the world may look upon the new Queen Alia International Airport terminal and marvel at the sleekness of its design and the smoothness of its operations, they do not see the immense amount of hard work and complex collaboration that goes on behind the scenes. I do, and I applaud our entire team for a job beautifully done. AIG has long enjoyed a rich track record of success, and it is with great pride that we add this new milestone to it."
In addition to a celebratory dinner, the event featured several videos covering QAIA's and the employees' accomplishments, followed by a live performance by the popular band, GuitaNai, and token giveaways for all the attendees.
Slated to officially begin its operations on 21st March, the new terminal was inaugurated under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II on 14th March 2013, after kicking off its soft opening on 3rd March by running select commercial flights. The 100,000-square-metre building boasts vastly improved infrastructure and cutting-edge facilities that are capable of catering to the steady surge in Jordan's passenger traffic, catapulting QAIA's annual capacity from 3.5 million passengers to 9 million passengers, and later on to 12 million passengers.
The Kingdom's newest terminal is set to introduce a new traveler experience and is equipped with the latest technologies and automation systems to maximize efficiency, security and service quality. It features a larger check-in area, clearly marked signage, modern flight information monitors, comfortable seating, a larger duty-free area and a wider variety of food and beverage outlets, among other greatly enhanced features.
