AIG and Mawgif hold new QAIA terminal car park orientation

Airport International Group (AIG) - the Jordanian consortium responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) - and its car park management services partner, National Company For Car Parking Systems Ltd (Mawgif), held on Saturday 2nd March, 2013, a press conference explaining the new QAIA terminal's parking areas' procedures and regulations.
Slated to be operational on the terminal's launch date, the new parking facilities are divided into three key areas: departure curbside area, short-term parking lot and long-term parking lot.
For passenger drop-offs, drivers entering the departure curbside will receive a ticket that permits them a 10-minute free-of-charge grace period. Spending 11-20 minutes in the drop-off area will incur a JD4 fee, while spending more than 20 minutes and less than one hour will incur a JD13 charge. Vehicles that are left unattended at the departure curbside will be subject to police towing.
All vehicles should use the short-term car park to meet and greet passengers. Upon entering the new terminal, the arrivals road sign will direct drivers to the short-term parking barrier where a dispenser will produce a parking ticket. The hourly charge for using the new terminal's short-term parking area is JD1. Drivers can either pay the parking ticket using the Pay on Foot machines available at the arrivals curbside, or on their way out at the cashier booth located at the parking's exit.
The new terminal's long-term parking area may be accessed by passengers who wish to leave their vehicles for an extended period of time whilst travelling. Upon entering the long-term parking area, drivers will collect a parking ticket which will calculate the number of days the vehicle remains parked. The charge for using the new terminal's long-term parking is JD10 for every 24 hours. A designated shuttle bus will transport passengers to the new terminal building upon departure, and back to their parked vehicles upon arrival to Amman.
Clearly marked signage in both Arabic and English has been set up to direct traffic at each of the three parking areas. The actual parking areas are intuitively designed to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
