Air Force and Defence explores mutual cooperation with UAEU

A delegation from the Air Force and Defence affiliated with the UAE Military Force met with United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) management to discuss areas of mutual cooperation.

The Air Force and Defence delegation consisted of officers representing various departments and included Lieutenant - Colonel Saif Al Mazrouei from the Training Department, Major Khawla Al Jabri from the IT Department, Major Mariam Al Bloushi from Aviation Medicine, Captain Dr. Eng. Khalifa Al Kaabi, Head of HR Department, Captain Khalid Al Mohammadi from the Meteorology Department, and Captain Saeed Al Mukhamasi from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

UAEU was represented by Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari, Vice Provost for Research & Graduate Studies, Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb, Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Ibrahim Sidawi, Executive Director of UAEU Center for Externally Funded Research & Consultancies (eFORS) as well as faculty members from the Colleges of Engineering, Science, Information Technology and Medicine.

Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari said, "This is our second meeting with Air Force and Defence. Four important areas of cooperation were agreed upon in the last meeting that related to the fields of Medicine, IT, Meteorology and Engineering."

The visiting delegation delivered presentations on each of these areas explaining the support required by both UAEU and Air Force & Defence. Major Mariam Al Bloushi briefed the attendees on the field of Aviation Medicine and highlighted the studies and research in which the College of Medicine & Health Sciences may contribute. A suggestion was presented to organize a one year program for Air Force and Defence at UAEU as a replacement for delegating doctors overseas.

Major Khawla Al Jabri presented the key aspects for cooperation in the IT field. She discussed the potential of recruiting UAEU graduates at the Directorate of Communication and IT, in addition to providing training to students. She also requested research and consultation support from the College of Information Technology.

Dr. Ibrahim Sidawi, meeting organizer, stated that the meeting explored the issue of meteorology techniques by Captain Khalid Al Mohammadi, who presented the equipment used in Military Meteorology. He briefed the faculty members with the services and studies provided by the department. In relation to Engineering and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Captain Saeed Al Mukhamasi explained the developments and techniques of Air Force and Defence and highlighted the services that can be provided by UAEU faculty members and researchers in this area.

The Air Force and Defence delegation suggested for UAEU to offer credited courses at Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College and Command and Staff College, and to grant degrees for students. The issue will be further discussed at the next meeting.

The delegation of the Air Force and Defence expressed their appreciation to UAEU for their hospitality and the services provided. The delegation also expressed their support of UAEU students in terms of recruitment and training.
