AkzoNobel and Al Barij International form strategic partnership to launch Purate technology in Oman

AkzoNobel and Al Barij International LLC announced today the formation of a strategic alliance to launch AkzoNobel's Purate technology for water disinfection into the rapidly growing water treatment market in Oman.

Chlorine dioxide generated from the Purate technology is an effective water disinfectant that can be applied anywhere that contamination from microorganisms occurs. It is a superior replacement for the conventional chlorine presently used. As a dissolved gas it penetrates and removes bio-film without the need for additional treatment. It is also effective over a broader pH range compared with conventional chlorine. It is used in Industrial applications for micro as well as macro fouling control and as a disinfectant in drinking water systems to reduce the formation of trihalomethanes and bromoform which both are considered harmful to human health.

The Purate technology is more efficient, economical and environmental friendly compared to chlorine chemistry.

Al Barij, as a distributor for the Purate technology shall deliver consistently good results and high quality service to every customer in Oman. Al Barij will survey client's plants to recommend cost effective water disinfection solutions which shall optimize the overall performance of a plant.

"We feel that the timing is good for us to formalize our agreement with Al Barij, a well-established and respected business house in the important markets of Oman and the GCC. We shall use our relationship to advance our business plans in Oman and the GCC region." said Kjell Johansson Regional Manager for the Purate Technology at AkzoNobel.

"Al Barij is impressed with AkzoNobel's water disinfection technology and we see a great scope for applying this technology here in Oman. AkzoNobel is a well known multinational company and we feel we have found a well-suited partner who has the same vision as we do which is to improve water quality in Oman by introducing the latest available disinfection technology and to meet increasing environmental concerns related to the release of Chlorinated organic compounds. We look forward to working with AkzoNobel and introducing the Purate technology here in Oman." Mukhtar M Hasan - Chairman of Al Barij International LLC.
