Al Maabar appoints Central Contracting Est. as main contractor for construction of Masjid Sheikh Zayed

Al Maabar International Investments, has appointed the Amman-based Central Contracting Est. as the main contractor for construction of the Masjid Sheikh Zayed, part of Marsa Zayed, the company's flagship project in Aqaba, Jordan. The contract period is 16 months from date of commencement.
The contract was signed by H.E. Mr. Yousef Al Nowais, Managing Director of Al Maabar International Investment, and Eng. Ali Maher Jarrar, General Manager of Central Contracting Est. in Amman. The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Amri; the UAE Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Abdullah Hageali; CEO of Al Maabar International Investment, Mr. Emad Kilani; CEO of Al Maabar Jordan, and Eng. Emad Al Shurafa; Project Manager of Central Contracting Est. Local representatives from the media in Aqaba were also present.
During the ceremony, H.E. Yousef Al Nowais expressed his gratitude for the Government of Abu Dhabi, led by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, for their continued support and commitment to Marsa Zayed project.
Commenting on this important milestone, H.E. Yousef Al Nowais said, "Sheikh Zayed Masjid in Aqaba is truly symbolic of Al Maabar's vision and commitment to driving projects that fulfill a real economic, social and cultural need to the local community. The ceremony marks a key project milestone as we begin laying the foundation stone for the Sheikh Zayed Masjid in the upcoming months. We are blessed to start with the Masjid as the first stepping-stone in the life of Marsa Zayed construction. We believe that this as good omen with a lot of positive connotations."
The 3,890 square meter mosque in Aqaba will accommodate 2,000 worshipers and include separate prayer halls for men and women, additional prayer rooms for Eid and other religious celebrations, a center for culture & humanities and a learning center for the reciting of the Holy Quran. Gardens and decorated water basins will surround the exterior of the mosque to enhance the sense of serenity.
H.E. Dr. Abdullah Nasser Sultan Al Amri, the UAE Ambassador to Jordan also commented: "I am honored to be part of such an important project to both the UAE and Jordan and am deeply grateful to all parties for their hard work and commitment. Marsa Zayed is an extension of the UAE's commitment to forging strong meaningful bilateral ties with Jordan, and once the project is completed, Marsa Zayed will be a leading cultural landmark and tourist attraction to drive the future economic growth of Jordan. This project has both spiritual and emotional connotations in the hearts of Emiratis and fellow Arabs, as it takes its inspiration from the aspirations and visions of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Abdullah bin Al Hussein II."
Eng. Ali Maher Jarrar, General Manager, Central Contracting Est. commented, "We are delighted to be partnering with Al Maabar on the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Masjid, which reflects the company's dedication to building strong partnerships with local business partners that will bring significant long-term benefits to both countries."
Marsa Zayed encompasses 3.2 million square meters of built-up area, which will include apartments, townhouses, high-rise residential, retail spaces, hotels, recreation, entertainment, business and financial districts. Once completed, it is projected to provide 15,000 employment opportunities in Aqaba. Marsa Zayed's first project milestone entails the completion of Sheikh Zayed Masjid, while the second project milestone will be the completion of Al Raha Village, soon to be launched, which includes 260 apartments, 195 townhouses, a clubhouse and a wide range of community living facilities that are providing a unique and serene lifestyle for the residents of Aqaba.
