Al Maabar to resume work on Libyan development

Abu Dhabi-based Al Maabar has said work on its mixed-use project in downtown Tripoli, Libya, is back on track as it was reinitiated in 2013, Gulf News has reported. "We stopped tendering for the project at Al Waha shortly after the Arab Spring, but it gives me great pleasure that the $200 million (Dhs734m) Al Waha project is back on track," said the managing director of Al Maabar, Yousuf Mohammad Al Nowais. The Al Waha development, which comprises commercial, retail, hospitality and residential space, will be of a total land area of 40,000 sq m and the built-up area will be 145,000 sq m, he said. "The project will include a luxury hotel with 20 floors and total built-up area of 36,536 sq m comprising 196 serviced apartments, serviced office spaces, health club, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness area and a spa. It will also entail a conference and banqueting areas, a ballroom and multipurpose facilities for up to 800 people," said Al Nowais.
